Double pleated trousers – Ecru linen and cotton

220

Ecru trousers with double pleats, high waist, generous leg and elastic waistband. The colour is a natural beige or ecru which comes from a mixture of undyed linen and cotton. Light-coloured trousers like these will look great on sunny days, with light shoes, leather sandals, a white t-shirt or an OCBD shirt… However, these are not just trousers for summer. The fabric chosen is quite heavy, to avoid the wrinkled look of linen. As a result, they hold up quite well and are even sturdy enough to be worn in spring, with a sporty blazer or even a tweed jacket!

Cotton and linen trousers with a fairly high waist and a generous leg. This is a comfortable cut for the legs, designed for a smooth trousers plumb line with no break: the volume allows to draw a straight leg line, without tapering the thigh or the calf. To achieve this, the center front pleat is deep enough to fall in front of the thigh; the back rise is higher than the front, allowing for a straight line from the buttocks to the heel.

Signature details: An elastic waistband on the side for a discreet touch of comfort and to keep you comfortable in your trousers. Lowered belt loops, so the belt doesn’t overlap the wiastband. The belt loops are designed to accommodate a thin belt, for a more refined style than current standards. The double Italian pleats (towards the back) provide ease and total freedom of movement. Sitting, walking or with your hands in your pockets, this cut of trousers does not restrict you. You have a stylish pair of trousers, with subtle details to give incomparable comfort. These trousers can be worn as dress pants, or even as a cooler alternative jogging pants without looking sloppy.

  • We advise you to wear the trousers almost on the navel.
  • Bottom leg opening: 20 cm for size S (38/40 FR) – 21 cm for size M (42/44 FR).
  • The inseam is 86cm for sizes S and M.

The fabric

Natural ecru canvas by Brisbane Moss 🇬🇧
55% cotton, 45% linen, this is a fabric that nods to the origins of linen, which was once used in all seasons and even in workwear clothing. In other words, it has nothing to do with the white linen trousers you find on the markets by the beach. It has a medium thickness of 350 grams per square metre, which means that it wrinkles very little compared to 100% linen trousers. It has a dry feel, due to its canvas weave and the use of raw linen. The colour is in natural tones: the yarns used are undyed and there are small darker grains from the linen fibres which are less uniform than wool or cotton. It is a fabric with texture, which will take on a patina thanks to the folds it will mark, the colour will darken where the fabric is stressed and the trousers will shape at the pelvis and knees.

If you want to iron the pleats, you can do it with a standard iron, minimum power (pattemouille optional). If you just want to smooth out the more marked areas, use only a few jets of steam.

Sanforized fabric
As part of the finishing process, the fabric has been sanforised to prevent excessive shrinkage. It is still a linen and cotton fabric which are fibres that will always shrink naturally. Expect 2-3% shrinkage if you put the trousers in the washing machine. Therefore, favour spot washing, dry cleaning, steam baths and generally avoid machine washing.

How to choose the right size?

Measure your waist

Place the measuring tape slightly below your navel, where you want to wear the trousers. Then refer to the line of the chart “Body waist measurement” to determine your size. Thanks to the elastic waistband, the waistband is stretchable. If you are between sizes, we recommend that you take the larger size for a loose, straight fit. The smaller size will give you a more streamlined leg.

Compare with one of your trousers that fits well

The measurements below were taken flat on the trousers. Some clarifications:

Measurement A shows 2 measurements: waist loose and with the elastic fully pulled
Measurement C (thigh flat) is taken 6 cm from the crotch point
Measurement D (knee flat) is taken 33 cm from the crotch point
